KAIRA LOORO draws from the vernacular architecture of southern Senegal to create a safe, adaptable learning environment for children. Movable woven thatch partitions replace fixed walls, enabling classrooms to expand from intimate learning zones into open communal spaces, enhancing ventilation, daylight, and interaction.At the heart of the project are lightweight woven cubes that children can move and transform into settings for play, learning, or storytelling—elements that cultivate creativity, independence, and social engagement.The program includes an entrance zone, classrooms, service and administrative spaces, a small infirmary, storage, and outdoor learning areas. A manual bamboo shading system operated by a simple pulley allows flexible light control.KAIRA School offers a calm, flexible educational environment rooted in local materials, simplicity, and child centered design.
