This self-made villa in Royan, Mazandaran, is inspired by the timeless vernacular architecture of northern Iran. The design reinterprets the elevated terraces and open verandas of traditional Gilaki houses, integrating them into a contemporary spatial language that emphasizes both functionality and cultural memory. The striking red façade pays homage to the vibrant textiles of Qasem Abad’s traditional attire, adding a symbolic layer that ties the building to its regional heritage. With its interplay of solid and perforated surfaces, abundant greenery, and contextual form, the villa stands as a modern reinterpretation of local identity while offering comfort and elegance for contemporary living.
